On Fridays, I bring you the best workflow and business tips I find each week. In 2020, I’m attempting to write one each DAY. So, since this is Friday and the last day of January, here are this month’s tips:
Workflow Wise Tip #1: It’s January! Check the copyright year on the bottom of your website. Hit me up if you have questions!
Workflow Wise Tip #2: Deep thought – “Can I turn this Word file/PDF into an easily updatable google doc with a read-only link?”
Workflow Wise Tip #3 – put a contact phone number and email on your website #maketheboatgofaster
Workflow Wise Tip#4 – Get a free google voice number that re-directs to your cell phone.
Workflow Wise Tip#5 – There is an online application you’re paying for but haven’t looked at in 3 months, cancel it and integrate it any of the ones you are using regularly. #askmehow
Workflow Wise tip #6 – Sync your appointment app to whichever online calendar you use or are planning to use the MOST, ical, google, outlook, etc.
Workflow Wise Tip # 7 – If you can’t get into the habit of checking your appointment app availability every week, DEFINITELY check it before you send a link out.
Workflow Wise Tip#8 – Other uses for contact pages – qualifying clients, follow-up questionnaires, menu selections.
Workflow Wise Tip #9 – Add testimonials to your contact form page What better place to affirm what a Rockstar you are than on the page where they go to personally find out what a Rockstar you are?
Workflow Wise Tip#10 – How many times have you edited the same contract/email template before sending it out? Permanently change the template OR create a new one based off of it.
Workflow Wise Tip #11 – Workflow Wise Tip #11 Download all the mobile apps for your online services/tools – calendar, website, social media scheduler, etc.
Workflow Wise Tip #12 -1. #thingsforgottenthatyouneedforcontract – mailing address
Workflow Wise Tip #13 – 2. Back yourself up making them HAVE to fill out their mailing address on your contract. Same with phone number.
Workflow Wise Tip#14 – #nocrmhack – You can schedule emails in gmail. What templated emails can you schedule right after you get hired? “Here’s a spreadsheet/schedule your followup call/don’t forget…etc.
Workflow Wise Tip #15 – #nocrmhack – Send the link to your invoice and your contract to your prospective client at the same time, not one and then the other.
Workflow Wise Tip #16 – First rule of linking to other websites from your website – make sure the other site opens up in a new tab. #askmehow
Workflow Wise Tip #17 – Do you send welcome emails/packets to your new clients? Include your work hours and your call return timeframe.
Workflow Wise Tip #18 – Update the year on all your contracts and documents.
Workflow Wise Tip#19 – Social media schedulers will SAVE YOU. Even the free ones.
Workflow Wise Tip #20 – Very little in your world or mine is urgent at 9pm. You can return that business text or call the next morning. #expectations
Workflow Wise Tip #21 – Get clear about what your week looks like. If you need to do a work thing, put it in your calendar. If you need to do a life thing, put it in your calendar. New mantra – if it’s not in your calendar, it’s not happening.
Workflow Wise Tip #22 – Remember, You control the autoresponse it does not control you. Your automation can sound as much like you as you want it to.
Workflow Wise Tip #23 – Position yourself as a peer with prospective clients. Instead of “Thank you for meeting with me,” try “I’m glad that we can talk today.”
Workflow Wise Tip #24 – If you are sending the same google docs and presentations to your clients, use tinyurl.com or bitly.com to make the url shorter and easy to remember.
Workflow Wise Tip #25 – Make the leap from the free version to the paid version of a software/app when you can use at least two features NOW, not sometime in the future.
Workflow Wise Tip #26 – Zoom for example: Tempting to to get the paid subscription for “unlimited” reach, BUT the free version hosts up to 100 participants for 40 minutes at a time. #make it work.
Workflow Wise Tip #27 – Seriously, YOU are your biggest business asset. Taking care of your clients needs to involve taking care of yourself, too.
Workflow Wise Tip #28 – Live networking is severely underrated. Not only are there other entrepreneurs who understand and relate to you, but free food is often involved, too. You know? #gooutsideandsayhi
Wednesday Workflow Wise Tip #29 – Don’t forget to countersign your online contracts.
Workflow Wise Tip #30 – Put your newsletter opt-in link in your email signature.
Workflow Wise Tip #31 – Keep your daily checklist to 4 items or less.
