Sparklers new year review

On Fridays, I bring you the best work-life integration tips, tricks and thoughts I’ve found this week - a big one for review and resolutions. And we call it Four for Friday. Welcome!

First of all, I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season. 2018 is almost over. It went by so fast, but also really, really didn't. Looking forward to what next year will bring, but in the meantime...

The Quote I've Been Mulling Since I Got On The Plane

“The winners in life think constantly in terms of I can, I will, and I am. Losers, on the other hand, concentrate their waking thoughts on what they should have or would have done, or what they can’t do.” – Dennis Waitley (via my friend Ruby Fremon @Iamruby)

I've been on the East Coast for the past week, just long enough to miss my own bed. I saw this quote on Ruby's twitter feed, and I think it's a good way to start the first day after vacation and the rest of the year - I can, I will, and I am .

The Thing That's Going To Help You Start The New Year Right

The Entrepreneur Store - As in, Entrepreneur Magazine. They have a ton of online business skills and certification courses, like an FB ads certification, social media marketing, e-book self publishing, public speaking, starting a podcast, financial trading. All deeply discounted to around $30, AND you get an additional 19% off with the code NEWYEAR2019. Thank to Eliie Red Cloud at Choice Consulting Group for the find!

The Other Thing That's Going To Help You Start The New Year Right

Tim Ferris - Forget New Year’s Resolutions and Conduct a ‘Past Year Review’ Instead. The idea is to make two columns on a notepad, "Positive" and "Negative", grab your 2018 calendar, look at each week and categorize any activities, people or commitments as either one or the other. When you're done, figure out the 20% of each column caused the most positive and negative peaks. Schedule more of the positive in more calendar, put the negative on a "not-do-list" so you can figure out how to get it off your plate. I'm going to try in this weekend, and I'll let you know how it goes.

The Book/Literary Thing This Week

My friend Nephele Tempest (yes, that is her awesome real name) is a literary agent, and her blog today featured a link about Nora Ephron, known best for "When Harry Met Sally" and for "You've Got Mail" which just celebrated its 20th anniversary. Longreads' The World of Nora Ephron: A Reading List offers short stories, reviews, interviews, even an oral history of "You've Got Mail". And, yes, today that movie is seen as, uh, a little problematic, but the list itself is very interesting, and I'm definitely diving into it over the next couple of days. You can follow Nephele on twitter @nepheletempest

What else do you need right now to get a good start on 2019? What are the tasks and the "negative peaks" in your business that you wish you could clear off so you can increase your business while still enjoying your life? Click here to schedule call or video chat with me and let's talk about your checklist, or email me directly at elizabethcoopersmith@gmail.com.

Talk to you soon,
