Patience. What's your reaction to that word?

Rebellion? Resignation? As an entrepreneur in 2020, the need for patience has definitely been thrust upon us. There is no choice, we have to wait. Wait for the numbers to go down, wait for the city to open. WAIT.But, if you think about it, our lives have always been like this. Waiting for clients to find us, waiting for the payments, waiting until the next call, and then the next one.Right now, it feels like our livelihood is dependent on things we can't control, but it's always been like this, hasn't it?The second misconception we have about patience is confusing it with "inaction", and they aren't the same thing.I'm listening to the audiobook of "Atomic Habits" by James Clear this week. He says that goals are great, but you have to have a system if you want to reach them. Saying, "I want to lose weight" doesn't make it so, working out and changing your diet will...if you do it consistently. You aren't going to lose 10 lbs after eating an apple and walking for an hour one day. It takes a lot of apples and a lot of walking, cumulatively. And in between, you have to be patient. When it's coupled with action, infinite patience leads to results.

Focus on your goal and the steps to get there

Gift Card PATIENCE

To put it plainly, your ultimate goal is to use your skills to serve your clients and pay the bills. That hasn't changed. What you have to do now in order to reach that goal probably will and has changed...for now. You have to do what it takes to reach your goals, regardless. Give yourself credit for what you're already doing to get there, and what you're prepared to do to keep going, from as little as wearing a mask when you go out to stop the spread to breaking your big services into smaller offerings. Less consults, but more time to promote yourself for the future. Working with different clients and using different skills.Whatever detour you've had to take, you can still move forward, and keep your eyes on the prize.
