This Is The Dumbest Thing I've Ever Heard

I get alerts from Twitter a couple of times a week about stuff in my feed. This headline from Inc, stopped me dead like a record scratch, "Stop Believing You Have the Same 24 Hours as Beyonce." What? This is a productivity meme? You have the same amount of hours in a day that Beyonce does, so you should be getting more done? Really?

This irritates me for a couple of reasons

First, women are always being told and made to feel that they're not doing enough with their time. Why can't you have a successful career, look pretty, maintain a picture perfect life, take care of your family, and show no seams or weakness ever? It's not hard, you're just bad at it!  After all, Beyonce is doing it.

LOL! No.

Look, I love Bey as much as anyone else does,  but she has her 24 hours, and the 24 hours of the 5-10 people who work for her on a daily basis. On the low end, Beyonce probably has 40 more daily hours at her disposal than you or I do.  If she wants dinner, she doesn't have to take an hour away from writing the next big hit to cook, someone else does that. If the twins left their playroom a mess, she doesn't have to use her time to clean up, someone else does that. If she has to go to the studio, she's not driving, if she needs a mani/pedi, a manicurist comes to her. If there is shopping to be done, she has an assistant that will do it. The rest of us have to carve the time out of our own 24 hours.

Give yourself a break and do what you can with what you have.

Accomplishing as much as Beyonce does in a day should not be the goal. Be realistic about you, yourself can get done in a day, and stop beating yourself up -you're doing a lot better than you think.
